Tiemann Land and Cattle was established in 1981 by Rob Tiemann in Pflugerville, just north of Austin, Texas. In 1981, Pflugerville was a rural farming and ranching community. Today, it is a rapidly growing suburban area. The original ranch is now the site of the Blackhawk residential subdivisions.

The ranch office remains in Pflugerville. The base of ranch operations has been moved to Rockdale in Milam County. Operations also have expanded to include summer grazing in Springer, New Mexico. In addition to stocker cattle, the ranch raises for sale fallow deer, blackbuck, red deer, elk, zebras and addax.

In late 2001, Rob and his wife Carrie acquired their first cutting horses. Today, the cutting horse operation is based in Rockdale and is under the direction of trainer K J Kasun. The cutting horses are moved to Springer, New Mexico during the summer for training. Tiemann Land and Cattle also maintains a training facility in Millsap, near Weatherford, Texas.

Rob is the founder of Tiemann Land and Cattle and the real estate development company (Tiemann Land and Cattle Development, Inc.) that is centered on the ranch’s original holdings in Pflugerville and Travis County. His wife Carrie retired after 25 years of law practice, and is now active in the ranching and cutting horse operations. (Like Carrie, Rob also is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, but he never let law practice get in the way of his ranching and real estate interests!) Rob and Carrie have been married for 18 years, and have raised a “merged” family of four children, now grown:

Seth married to Melanie. Matt, a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps, married to Christie. Laura, a biologist, married to T J Theis. Luke, a senior at The University of Texas and a fullback (#49) for the Longhorns

Rob and Carrie are avid UT Longhorn fans (Hook ‘em!!). Both are active in showing cutting horses as non-pros and amateurs. Rob often can be spotted riding with his burnt orange saddle blanket emblazoned with a white longhorn.

K J Kasun has worked as head trainer of the cutting horses for Tiemann Land and Cattle since November, 2005. While working for the Tiemanns, he has earned several Limited Open Champion and Reserve titles, most recently earning the John Deere Division of the Open 2008 NCHA Super Stakes Classic aboard CDs Lucky Gal. K J is married to the former Skye Dunlap of Wyoming.
